Owner closes four papers - by email

After a year of publishing four papers in West Virginia, owner Dan Butcher has shut them all down. Managers were notified of the closures by email on new year's day. Butcher's fortune is founded on a commercial landscaping business in Florida, and his journalism pedigree came from 22 years at the Washington Post, where he ran a community newspapers division.
