A restaurant owner has admitted his business "fell short" after a damning food hygiene report.
Blue Mango and Mango Lounge Indian Restaurant in Rainhill, were inspected by food hygiene officers from St Helens Borough Council on April 13, 2023. The food safety officer rated the restaurant as "major improvement necessary" with a one star rating.
They were rated as "improvement necessary" in food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building. They require "major improvement" in the management of food safety category.

In the wake of the inspection Blue Mango's owner, Ryan Meah, took to social media to defend the restaurant after people made comments about the rating. He claimed the restaurant "fell short in only a couple of minor areas" and claimed it took "all aspects of health and hygiene very seriously".
He said: "Dear loyal customers of Blue Mango Indian Restaurant. You may have seen some negative publicity about our restaurant on social media recently, but I wanted to reassure you that we take all aspects of health and hygiene very seriously and we have unfortunately fell short in only a couple of minor areas.
"Rest assured, we will be taking both corrective and preventative measures in the coming days and weeks so that we can continue to provide you with our delicious Asian cuisine. Sadly nobody is perfect and I thank you all in advance for your understanding and support.
"Kind regards, Ryan Meah and all the staff at Blue Mango."

Others were more sceptical about Ryan's post.
Andy Greenough said: "A rating of one requires major improvement according to St Helens Council guidelines. There is no excuse for poor hygiene especially when it involves handling food which people are paying good money for. Good luck with the improvements for everybody's sake."
