Owen Warner's mum says he will soon 'rumble' Chris Moyles amid 'bullying' claims

Owen Warner's mum reckons her son will soon suss out Chris Moyles has been telling him fibs on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

Chris, 48, told Owen, 23, he was a professional dancer and thespian in their first week in the jungle - leading the legit actor to wonder 'what the geezer couldn't do'.

Fans slammed the former Radio 1 DJ for 'bullying' the 'gullible' star, but Owen's mum Polly said her son has nothing to worry about.

Arriving at Brisbane airpot today (Nov 17), she said: "I wouldn't have called Owen gullible to be honest, but he doesn't know anybody in there so he's going to take everything someone says on face value straight away, but I don't think it'll take much for him to rumble him [Chris] really – he's not that daft."

Fans have taken to Owen in the wake of his faux pas, including when he asked Mike Tindall if his wife was Australian as well as having no clue about Scarlette Douglas' show A Place in the Sun.

Asked about the latter gaffe, Polly argued: "Anything he's said has made sense, hasn't it? When he said 'whereabouts?' about the lady on A Place In The Sun, why would he have ever seen that show?", she told MailOnline.

The proud mum then added: "He's at work in the day and even if he were at home, he probably wouldn't put the TV on because he plays music. He is being himself, totally himself."

Owen concerned fans after last night's show when he said he was "wasting away".

On Tuesday, Baba, Boy George and Chris only managed to bag two stars while last night's show saw the Leeds-born DJ come back to camp with just one.

The 'love from above' was predictably poor later that evening with just a "bony fish" to be shared among the camp.

However, despite the lack of food, Owen's mum is highly impressed with her son's cooking skills.

The actor and Scarlette were chosen to be in charge of cooking by camp leader Matt Hancock.

After rustling up some tasty dishes with few ingredients, the pair have impressed their campmates with their culinary skills.

Polly said she's been "blown away" by her son's cooking, saying his previous repertoire was just chicken, mash and stir-fry.

Fans had hoped Owen was going to get a treat of some surf and turf at a BBQ on the beach in tonight's show.

However, a preview shows the lucky winners are Sue Cleaver, Jill Scott - and disgraced MP, Matt Hancock.

•I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! is on Thursday at 9pm on ITV
