Owen Hargreaves suggests new position for Manchester United player Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Owen Hargreaves believes that Aaron Wan-Bissaka could excel as a right-sided central defender in a back-three formation when Manchester United switch between systems.

The full-back has caught the eye with his defensive contributions, which include a stellar display against Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital last week.

However, Wan-Bissaka has been criticised for his ability on the ball and his effectiveness in the attacking third - an area where he is eclipsed by other players in the league.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer often plays with a back three in big games and Hargreaves feels as though Wan-Bissaka would be more than capable of performing in that system in a central role.

"100 per cent (he could play in a back three) because he’s so quick. We spoke about this last year, didn’t we, Rio [Ferdinand]? I think he’d give a bit of athleticism to the United back three," Hargreaves told BT Sport. "You wouldn’t want to play against him. With England, with Trent, if you play a team where you dominate then Trent [Alexander-Arnold] is perfect because he gets the assists.

"If you play an international team with top players, Wan-Bissaka cancels out almost anyone. It depends who you’re up against.”
