Owen Hargreaves has pinpointed the moment in Manchester United's drubbing of RB Leipzig that showed why Marcus Rashford will captain United in the future.
Rashford came off the bench to inspire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to a comfortable victory, as they hit five past the Bundesliga leaders at Old Trafford.
While Rashford was deadly in front of goal, putting the German side to the sword with a clinical hat-trick, though he showed another side to his game as well.
United were awarded a penalty when the England international had two goals to his name but, rather than take the spot-kick himself, he handed the opportunity to Anthony Martial.
That allowed United's No.9 to get off the mark this season with his first goal of the campaign, providing a platform to build upon over the course of the coming weeks.
And Hargreaves believes that Rashford's generosity has a deeper meaning, as he feels it showed that the forward has the credentials to be a future club captain.
“I love that he’s looking out for his team-mates. Martial, that’s great for him. Marcus knows he’s gonna get his numbers," he told BT Sport.
"I love that - that’s being a great team-mate. That’s why he’s gonna be the captain because he thinks of everyone else, not just himself. I like that, because this generation aren’t as individualistic.”
Rashford has earned plaudits both on and off the field this season, being awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday honours list earlier this month after his work helping children received free school meals.
