Owen Hargreaves makes Jadon Sancho to Manchester United transfer prediction

Manchester United will still have the financial muscle to pull off a big signing like Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, despite the impact of coronavirus on football.

That is the view of former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side pursue interest in the England winger as one of their top summer transfer targets.

Sancho has been one of Europe's standout talents for the past season or two and is heavily tipped to return to the Premier League, with MEN Sport understanding that United are confident of landing him.

As the Bundesliga prepares to restart this weekend after football's long suspension due to Covid-19, Hargreaves has backed his former club to sign the 20-year-old - though admits there will be no shortage of competition.

“I think the people that will have the money, they will always be in a better position than others. I think the teams lower down won’t be in that position,” the BT Sport pundit told the Daily Mail.

“The Bundesliga lower down has stabilised a lot in terms of spending and is a lot more sensible than some of the teams we see in some of the other [leagues].

"I think Jadon is a special case because whoever gets him… the fees are going to be significant but that is a player for potentially a decade. So he walks into any of our great teams, our Man Citys, our Liverpools, even a Barcelona or a Real Madrid if he fancies it. His level is that good.

"I think you'll see fees come down for sure. The amount of friends I have that run businesses that have gone under… it's going to impact football teams as well but I think the big ones, the Bayern Munichs and the Man Uniteds, they are still going to have money to do what they want to do.

"Maybe not in terms of quantity, but in terms of quality."

Sancho and Dortmund are back in action this weekend with a Bundesliga contest against rivals Schalke.
