Owen Farrell's moment of genius leaves commentators and fellow players in awe

England star Owen Farrell produced a remarkable moment of magic to set up Saracens for their bonus-point try on New Year's Day.

The 31-year-old British Lion was at the peak of his powers against Exeter Chiefs on Sunday. From pin-point touch-finders to ingenious tap-passes, he helped guide his team towards a 35-3 win.

However, it was Farrell's no-look 'out the back door' pass to set up Alex Lewington which has blown everyone away.

Commentator Alastair Eykyn and former England players Lawrence Dallaglio and Ugo Monye were taken aback by the sizzling Farrell display, and his fellow players were quick to congratulate him on the field as the outside-half smiled and high-fived those around him.

"What about that! Unreal. It's bonus time for Saracens, and what a bonus from Owen Farrell. A little piece of magic, Alex Lewington the beneficiary, stunning, stunning stuff," said Eykyn.

"We're allowed to be biased as well, he's one of my favourite players in the game. I mean I know there's a love affair with Marcus Smith, and his time will definitely come. But that to me, looks like England's number 10 for Test rugby anyway, I just think he's playing with real freedom," explained Dallaglio after the game.

"I hope Steve Borthwick doesn't give him the captaincy because I think he's already a captain. He's England's number 10 certainly going into the Six Nations, no doubt about it."

"It's a lovely bit of skill, but I guess that's exactly what a three-try buffer does for you, allows you to do a bit more. He's (Farrell) chuffed with that! Game sewn up, four tries, five points, good night," said Monye.

"That is sublime from @owenfaz," posted England Rugby on Twitter.

The victory takes Sarries 10 points clear at the top of the Gallagher Premiership table.
