Owen Farrell's 200th Saracens appearance on hold as they monitor injury

Saracens will monitor Owen Farrell’s fitness this week to see if he can make his 200th appearance for the club against Harlequins on Saturday.

The England captain missed the Premiership’s restart last weekend due to a tight thigh muscle.

Farrell was left out of Saracens’ squad for their match with Bristol Bears on Saturday and in his absence they lost 16-12 at Ashton Gate.

With Saracens already relegated from the Premiership, it was decided that it was not worth risking Farrell unless he is fully fit.

The fly-half will, however, be assessed this week to see if he can feature at the weekend during the London derby with Harlequins.

The match would be a significant milestone for Farrell as he is one game away from making his 200th appearance in a Saracens shirt.

Full-back Elliot Daly will also be assessed this week due to a hamstring issue.
