Owen Farrell a doubt for Australia clash after positive Covid test: ‘It’s Public Health England’s decision’

England captain Owen Farrell is a doubt for next week’s match with Australia after testing positive for Covid-19. Farrell missed Saturday’s win over Tonga after testing positive earlier this week and he could miss next week’s game with Australia too.

Under current Government guidelines, people should isolate for 10 days if they test positive for coronavirus.

“It is very clear and very simple. We are just following the Covid regulations and protocols. We are awaiting further guidance,” said England head coach Eddie Jones.

“It is not my decision [whether Farrell plays against Australia], it’s Public Health England’s. So we just leave it to them. We have done everything we are supposed to do.

“We knew 100 per cent Owen wasn’t going to be involved this morning, so we made the change.

“In terms of when he’s going to be allowed out, if you can give a ring to Public Health England that’d be most appreciated.”
