Overwhelming amount of people want another General Election over coalition, Irish Mirror poll finds

A staggering nine in 10 people want another election as opposed to seeing Fine Gael, Fianna Fail and the Green Party in Government.

The three parties all separately on Friday voted in favour of the draft Programme for Government.

However, just 10% of the public would prefer to see the historic coalition go ahead over another General Election.

More than 7,100 people - out of 8,000 who took the Irish Mirror poll - said they would like a chance to go to the polls again.

One furious citizen said: "If this happens today then I'm never voting again.

"Since I was able to I've voted every time we were asked to.

"If this comes off then I will remove my name from the voting register."

A second poller added: "It was a clear vote for change and I don't just mean Sinn Fein version of change.

"Fianna Fail voters voted on the back of relentless promises that their party would not go into government with Fine Gael. This is a coalition that nobody wanted nor voted for."

But another voter said: "But we did vote these in. Like it or not thats exactly what the people of Ireland did.

"And now you all want an election in the middle of a pandemic."
