Overwatch’s new hero Shion is a robot baddie who dual-wields hand cannons

Overwatch’s 52nd hero launches alongside a new season next week, and a first glimpse just hit the internet.

A new animated short starring the upcoming hero Shion shows her dual-wielding some Desert Eagle-like hand cannons while fighting against Overwatch’s Sojourn. But the character’s design is what has everyone talking.

Shion’s electronic-sounding voice and corresponding bolt-like dots on her face, along with the rest of her robotic body, make it seem like she’s an Omnic. But her face is something we haven’t really seen before from the metallic race, as it is quite human-like.

Lore-wise, Shion is the elder of the Hashimoto clan, a criminal organization with ties to Talon that has been locked in battle with Genji and Hanzo’s Shimada clan for years. She marks the seventh new hero for Overwatch this year alone, joining the five from the season one Reign of Talon re-launch in February and season two’s Sierra.

Her role is unknown just yet, but her ability to dual-wield makes her very interesting to me right out of the gates. She appears to be joining Tracer, Reaper, and Mauga as the only other hero who likes to have both of their hands full of weaponry on the battlefield.

Overwatch’s Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den launches next week on June 16, and more info about the character will be revealed in the coming days.
