‘Overwatch’ Winter Wonderland 2021: Here Are All Eight New Skins

Blizzard provided a sneak peek at Reindeer Orisa before the start of the Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2021 event. Blizzard Entertainment

Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2021 is upon us, which means there are a bunch of new skins to unlock. As with the last several events, there are eight new skins: five Legendaries and three Epic skins you can unlock through challenges. Let’s get right to it.

Winter Wonderland 2021 Legendary Skins

You can unlock these skins by paying 3,000 credits for each via the Hero Gallery, or with some RNG luck in Winter Wonderland loot boxes.

Reindeer Orisa

This is one of the best of this year’s bunch. Team 4’s artists always pay excellent attention to detail and this skin is no different. Orisa’s usually an upbeat hero, but I wouldn’t want to mess with this version of her.

Sleighing D.Va

The Sleighing D.Va skin is one of the highlights of the Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2021 event. Blizzard Entertainment

I’m a big D.Va fan, and while she already has many incredible skins, it’s always great to see her getting new looks. Sleighing D.Va is another great one, and my second-favorite of this latest batch. I’m not sure it’s enough to convince me to stop using the Cruiser skin and that wonderful “hey Daddy-o” line for any length of time, but given that it’s the holiday season, I might switch to this one temporarily.

Ice Wraith Genji

This is another of the skins that Blizzard revealed in advance of the event starting, but it’s worth another gander. I really like the pointy fingernails and the design of the Shurikens. The ice sword is rad too.

Snowman Wrecking Ball

Everyone's favorite hamster, Wrecking Ball, gets a frosty fresh look in Overwatch's Winter Wonderland 2021 event. Blizzard Entertainment

Following on from Roadhog’s wonderfully terrifying Frosty challenge look from last year’s event, Wrecking Ball is getting a Snowman skin and it’s my favorite of this batch. I love the little gifts attached to the guns and the bow on the core of the ball.

Here’s a closer look at Hammond, with his snowy beard and Santa hat. Adorable.

Snowboarder Baptiste

Snowboarder Baptiste is one of this year's 'Overwatch' Winter Wonderland skins. Blizzard Entertainment

Baptiste is exactly the kind of hero I’d expect to see hanging out on the slopes and having a good time with his friends. He’s not the only Overwatch character to get a snowboarding themed-skin: Andes Lúcio has snowboarding googles too.

Winter Wonderland 2021 Epic Skins

Seasoned Overwatch players will know the drill by now. To unlock the challenge-based cosmetics, they need to play a set number of games during each week of the event. Play nine games in each seven-day period and you’ll get a spray. Get through 18 games, and you’ll get a player icon. And, after finishing 27 games, you’ll receive that week’s skin. Remember: winning a game counts for double.

Week 1 (December 16-23): Wooltide Tracer

Wooltide Tracer is one of this year's Overwatch Winter Wonderland skins. Blizzard Entertainment

Tracer has many, many skins already, and it might have been nice to let some of the other heroes catch up a bit. However, I can’t get mad about this one. It’s lovely. Great pun on “yuletide” too.

Week 2 (December 23-30): Mistletoe Symmetra

Mistletoe Symmetra is one of this year's Overwatch Winter Wonderland skins. Blizzard Entertainment

This is a fun look for Symmetra. The crown’s a cool touch and the red and green play nicely with the gold. Just don’t expect her to be hanging from a ceiling, waiting for you and your boo to stop underneath.

Week 3 (Dec 30-Jan 6): Peppermint Bark Brigitte

Peppermint Bark Brigitte is one of this year's Overwatch Winter Wonderland skins. Blizzard Entertainment

Brig’s latest skin can’t possibly live up to the heights of her excellent Vampire Hunter look from Halloween Terror (her best skin ever, I reckon). Still, Peppermint Bark Brigitte might be one her fans want to use during the colder months of the year.

The Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2021 event runs from December 16 until January 6.
