The capital came to a standstill early this morning as a truck overturned beside Dublin port.
There was hours of bedlam leading into the city centre as the delays tailed back as far as the M1 following the incident on East Wall Road.
It happened just after 6.30am and led to the partial closure of Port Tunnel as traffic was metered to avoid queues in the structure.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and a recovery effort was underway, with a crane needed to remove the truck from the road.
Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene as a precaution.
Long queues began to build on the M1 from early this morning, and the effects were still being felt at around mid-day today.

An update from AA Roadwatch this morning said: "Very heavy traffic this morning for those on the M1, M50 and around the Port due to several incidents.
“The Port Tunnel’s southbound bore is temporarily closed due to an earlier incident on East Wall Rd inbound at the Alexandra Rd jct. East Wall Rd itself has reopened after an earlier closure - with the overturned vehicle still blocking the right lane.
“Traffic is very slow from the Clontarf Rd inbound onto Alfie Byrne Rd, to join a long queue on East Wall Rd towards the Alexandra Rd jct."
A number of collisions on the M50 also led to heavy delays on the motorway.

Delays of up to 40 minutes were reported in parts.
