This was the dramatic scene when a car overturned on the M57 motorway this morning.
Two lanes were closed on the southbound carriageway between J3 A526 Seth Powell Way (Stockbridge Village) and J2 A57 Liverpool Road (Prescot), leading to slow-moving traffic.
The blue SEAT Ibiza car ended up on its side in the incident.
North West Motorway Police said the driver was subsequently arrested after blowing nearly double the drink drive limit.
They thanked everyone who was held up in the traffic on the M57 for their patience.
