Overturned car in Kirkby led to reports of people trapped inside vehicle

The emergency services were called to Kirkby this afternoon over fears people were trapped inside an overturned car.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were dispatched to the roundabout where Moorgate Road North meets South Boundary Road this afternoon.

Two people were reportedly trapped inside a Mitsubishi that had careered off the carriageway, crashing into a road sign before coming to a rest on its side.

Merseyside Police scrambled officers to the scene where, on arrival, officers found two people inside the car had escaped the vehicle.

No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident.

Police blocked off the County Road exit of the roundabout as the vehicle was removed and debris was cleared from the scene.
