Overtown nursery given thumbs up from Care Inspectorate following inspection

An Overtown nursery has been given the thumbs up from the Care Inspectorate following an unannounced inspection.

Orchard Primary Nursery was scored highly by inspectors after the on-the-spot visit .

The report states: “Children attending the service were happy and settled.

“They were well supported by caring and responsive staff who ensured that their needs were met.

“Staff caring for children were experienced, skilled and enthusiastic.

“They worked well together, creating a warm and welcoming environment.

“Staff had participated in a variety of courses and professional learning, which had impacted positively on children’s experiences.

“For example literacy training has resulted in targeted reading programmes and the introduction of ‘story stacks’”.

The nursery was given a series of excellent marks across several categories but inspectors also outlined what could be done to improve the service.

Inspectors added: “To ensure that children continue developing positive health and wellbeing, the service should consider ways to maximise children’s time and playing outdoors.

“Children should be provided with more opportunities to participate in positive risk taking which enhances their quality of experience. This will support children to build resilience.
