'Over to you' - Newcastle United fans send message after Leeds beat Fulham

Newcastle United fans were grateful to get a favour from Leeds United in their Premier League relegation battle.

Leeds beat Newcastle's relegation rivals Fulham 2-1 in Friday night's showdown at Craven Cottage.

A win for Fulham would have sent the Magpies into the drop zone ahead of their crunch clash with Brighton on Saturday.

But Scott Parker's men were left empty-handed and remain third from bottom.

Newcastle are two points clear of Fulham and now have two games in hand on them.

One of those comes at Brighton, who are just one place and one point above Steve Bruce's men.

The Leeds result should give the Magpies a much-needed lift going into their visit to the Amex Stadium.

Patrick Bamford put Marcelo Bielsa's side ahead just before the half-hour but Joachim Andersen equalised for Fulham before the break.

However, Bamford then set up Raphinha for the winning goal in the 58th minute.

The result lifted Leeds up to 11th with 39 points from their 29 games - 13 points clear of the relegation zone.

Newcastle fans took to social media after the game to give their thoughts on the situation.

"Well... Over to you," said one on Twitter, sending a message to Bruce's men, while another posted: "Thank you Leeds United!"

Meanwhile, a third supporter added: "Thank you Bielsa and co. It’s down to us now!"
