The most recent signature deadline for ballot initiatives was June 21, 2026. Campaigns submitted signatures for three initiatives. The next deadline is June 24 in Nevada, where no campaigns are expected to file signatures.
California does not have a fixed signature submission deadline, but it does have a signature verification deadline of June 25. Two initiatives remain pending verification: one has a verification deadline of June 24, and the other has a deadline of July 6. Because the second deadline falls after the cutoff for the 2026 ballot, the initiative would be eligible for the 2028 ballot instead, unless county election officials complete verification ahead of the statutory schedule.
In California, campaigns may withdraw qualified ballot initiatives until June 25, and at least two plan to do so. Competing initiatives backed by Uber and the Consumer Attorneys of California had qualified for the November ballot. On June 18, however, both campaigns announced that they had reached an agreement and would withdraw their initiatives. The initiatives remain included in the total count because they have not officially been withdrawn yet.
By this point in even-numbered years from 2014 through 2024, an average of 115 statewide measures had been certified for the ballot. During this period, the average total number of statewide ballot measures certified in an even-numbered year was 153.
