Nottingham Forest continue to be linked with a loan move for Southampton striker Che Adams.
The Reds appear to be keen to add to their forward options during the January transfer window, and Adams in the latest name to be tipped for a move to the City Ground.
The Saints striker’s future looks to be up in the air at Southampton, having failed to score a goal since his £15m summer move from Birmingham City.
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has recently spoken about Adams’ form and future at St Mary’s, but he is not the only one to talk about the striker.
Former Leeds United forward Noel Whelan reckons his old club should rival Forest for Adams’ signature in the New Year.
He adds that Adams has proven himself to be a proven goalscorer in the Championship, referring to his three-season spell at Birmingham.
“If that does come off then that’s a fantastic signing for Leeds, it really would be,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“He was immense for Birmingham in a team that did not really have any superstars but Che Adams was a different class that season.
“Snapped up by Southampton, we know he can do it in the Championship, we know he’s got strength and pace, everything that you probably need to give you that added edge and that little bit extra over the other teams, is a Che Adams.
“That would be great if it actually comes off. It might just be talk, we don’t know. I’d be over the moon with that kind of signing.”
