Over Rs 52 crore has been given to flood-hit so far, says Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan

BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Thursday that no stone will be left unturned in providing relief to flood-affected people in Gwalior-Chambal division and Vidisha.

“Every flood victim will be provided assistance and relief. Sincere efforts are being made to ensure that we provide help to the suffering people,” he said, adding that the state government has already transferred more than Rs 52 crore into the accounts of flood-affected families.

Interacting with flood-affected people after transferring over Rs 23 crore online as flkood relief to people, the CM assured people not to worry. Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar also attended the virtual meeting.

Chouhan said, “The government has conducted a survey for providing relief. As immediate relief, we have provided cash assistance of Rs 6,000, 50 kg foodgrains and other items of daily necessity to the flood-hit. Moreover, financial relief has also been deposited in their accounts on the basis of the survey”.

The chief minister said that the government has prepared a three-point strategy to help the people affected by flood. The first task is to compensate the loss of every flood affected family and the second task is build houses that have been destroyed while the third task is to create infrastructure like roads, power lines, bridges, culverts, hospitals, schools and Anganwadi buildings, etc. He said that the government has formed a task force and asked 12 departments to provide relief to the flood affected people at the earliest.

He said that Rs 1.2 lakh is being given for construction of houses, Rs 30,000 for the death of milching animal, Rs 25,000 for the death of bull, Rs 3,000 for the death of goats etc. The government will also compensate for the crop loss under the provisions of RBC.

He asked collectors of all the affected districts to complete the survey work with “complete transparency”. Claims and objections should be taken by pasting the survey list on the panchayat building.

CM Chouhan held virtual dialogue with the flood-affected beneficiaries of some districts. The beneficiaries told him that they are getting timely help. Lakhan Singh of Dabra in Gwalior district said that he has received 50 kg wheat flour and the relief amount. Chouhan said that Rs. 1 lakh 20 thousand is being provided per house.
