Over a dozen homes in east Manchester had their gas supply turned off for the second time in a matter of days after heavy rain caused a pipe issue.
The issue first reared its head over the weekend with around 15 properties on Tannery Way, off Tan Yard Brow in the Abbey Hey area of Gorton having their supply isolated after water was found to have got into the gas pipes in the area.
They were reconnected around 24 hours later. However, gas engineers were again scrambled to the scene yesterday (Wednesday) with their supplies again turned off as experts from Cadent, who operate the country's gas distribution network, tried to identify the source of the issue.
The homes had their supply reconnected yesterday though it was late at night until some were able to use their gas appliances again.
A hole has been dug in the ground on Tannery Way and engineers remain at the scene in a bid to prevent the issue causing further problems but warned it could take some time to identify exactly where the water was entering the pipe network.

Cadent said the issue was a fairly common one during periods of heavy rain as experienced by the region over the past few days. They stressed there has been no gas leak or even a suspicion of one meaning there have been no evacuations.
"Our teams are now investigating where the water got in, so that we can stop it from happening again" a spokesperson said.
"They are using cameras to survey the underground network. The houses are at the bottom of a hill, so the point at which the water got in is not an easy task – ie. the water could have got in a good distance away."
