Over 900 Chicago Police Department officers have tested positive for COVID-19 this year, Supt. David Brown said Monday.

By year’s end, he added, expects that number to exceed 1,000.

“We want to encourage not only people in the community to seek out help and talk with someone, but also our police officers who are experiencing a lot of trauma in the way that they do this job,” Brown said.

The Fraternal Order of Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding COVID numbers among CPD officers.
