Over 90% of Beijing Adults Have Recieved a Covid-19 Vaccine Dose

What’s new: More than 90% of Beijing’s adults have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, official statistics released Monday show.

The city has administered over 32 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to more than 17.5 million residents, with 14.7 million recieving a full course of jabs.

While vaccines were initially only available to adults 59 and younger, 2.5 million Beijing seniors have now been at least partially inoculated, including nearly 5,000 people over 90 years old.

The background: The capital began to vaccinate key groups in January and started mass vaccinations for all nonsenior adults in February. The over-60s were included in the campaign from March.

As of Sunday, more than 777 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across China, according to the National Health Commission (link in Chinese).
