Over 8,000 counterfeit cigarettes, fireworks and cocaine seized by PSNI

The PSNI's Organised Crime Unit conducted a search at a property in the Magherafelt area today, seizing over 8,000 counterfeit cigarettes.

Officers also recovered a quantity of suspected cocaine and a large number of fireworks in the operation targeting organised criminality in the Mid Ulster area.

A 22-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A controlled drug, possession of fireworks without a licence, trading in counterfeit products & possession of criminal property.

He has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

Detective Inspector Shaw said: “Today’s search was a proactive organised crime operation targeting organised criminality in the Mid Ulster area. As a result of the search we recovered approximately 8,400 counterfeit cigarettes, a large number of fireworks and a quantity of suspected cocaine.

"Information from the public is key in our efforts to stop those who profit from illegal activities. I would ask anyone with any information which can assist us to target these individuals to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
