Over 700 register for job skill training at Greater Noida fair

GREATER NOIDA: More than 700 youths registered themselves for skill development training at a fair organised by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority on Sunday.

Officials said these youths would be offered training in 33 different sectors, such as logistics, apparel, retail, automotive, electronics, hospitality, tourism, construction etc. The training is expected to begin from December 20 across 15 centres in the district. Once the training is complete, the youths would be suitable for job opportunities in various sectors.

On Sunday, the fair was held from 10am to 4pm at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Inter-College in Surajpur. It was inaugurated by MP Mahesh Sharma in the presence of chief development officer Anil Kumar and GNIDA ACEO Amandeep Duli.

"The fair was organised to provide job-oriented training to the local youths. Under this, we partnered with 33 organisations and companies from different sectors. They will select these youths for training according to their educational qualification," said Narendra Bhooshan, the GNIDA CEO.

A total of 717 youths registered themselves at the fair and their selection for the training will be made online from Monday. "We have 15 training centres spread across Noida, Greater Noida, Dadri, Jewar and other areas. People came to the fair from sectors Alpha 1 and 2, Ecotech 2, sectors 63 and 81, Knowledge Park 1 and 3 and so on. The duration of the training will depend on the segment for which a youth is selected. It can be anything between two and six months. After the training, they will be better-equipped for job prospects in local industries," said Sandeep Kumar, who handled Sunday's registrations.
