MUMBAI: Over 50,000 vehicles have made journeys within six days of opening of Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray prosperity corridor between Nagpur and Shirdi (520km) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
A few days before the grand inaugural function held in Nagpur chief minister Eknath Shinde was driven down to Shirdi by his deputy Devendra Fadnavis and others within 5 hours as part of trial and supervision of the construction work.
To avoid inconvenience to the motorists and passengers, MSRDC has taken several measures such as setting up fuel pumps at 13 different places, 7 on Shirdi-bound and 6 on Nagpur-bound stretch of the super expressway.
At these fuel stations arrangements for snacks, drinking water, tyre repairing centres have been made besides vehicle repairing, ambulances and tyre inflators. Other than these facilities, a process to set up several wayside amenities such as food plazas has begun at 16 different locations on the expressway.
Washrooms have been provided at 13 fuel stations besides at toll posts along the road. Around 21quick response vehicles have been positioned at interchanges on the highway. Other than rescue operations, firefighting, oxygen cylinders, cutters, hydraulic jacks, vehicles will offer first aid facilities.
Besides 15 ambulances round 13 cranes have been deputed to lift the mishap-hit vehicles. According to MSRDC release 121 security guards have been deployed on the expressway with the help of state highway police.
