Over 50,000 expected to head to Dollymount Strand for Battle of the Bay this weekend

Over 50,000 visitors are expected to head to Dollymount Strand when the Battle of the Bay returns this weekend.

The family-friendly festival will enthrall audiences with kite surfers from across the world as they weave across the glittering bay.

The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday (25 & 26 May) between 10am and 6pm and entry is free.

The best kite surfers from Ireland and the world will descend on the shore to showcase their spectacular skills and gravity defying moves as they skim the water surface and compete for the coveted King or Queen of the Bay crown.

There will also be live music across three stages from bands and DJs, a beach market selling everything from vintage clothes to vinyl records, Arts & Crafts, jewellery, Farmers Market Food Village.

The Kids Zone will feature fairground rides, Big Wheel, fitness classes and amazing sand sculptures by Daniel Doyle.

Beach Volleyball Ireland will also be back on the strand.

There will be games for beginners and advanced players.

Saturday will comprises of two men and two women and up to two substitutions.

On Sunday competitors can sign up to face off in a more serious affair - a 2 x 2 single sex tournament for men & women.

The top men’s and women’s pairs will take to the sand to earn the Battle for the Bay title.

So bring along a picnic and a blanket and enjoy a thrilling few days by the north Dublin coast this weekend.
