Lanarkshire projects are set to benefit from over £3million in the UK Community Renewal Fund.
The funding will be used to engage local people and businesses, and increase skills and employability at a community level.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak has awarded the cash-pot on behalf of the UK Government to a range of employment and enterprise projects in the area.
The six successful bids from Lanarkshire - which have been awarded £3,195,677 in total - include Elevating South Lanarkshire, a network of enterprise support services aimed at increasing skills, employability and entrepreneurial awareness in the local area.
The group was awarded £874,988 of funding.
The other projects include:
- £823,576 awarded to Elevator Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, North Lanarkshire - a network of support services aimed at increasing skills, employability and entrepreneurial awareness in local communities.
- £503,880 to Airdrie Central Community Engagement Project - a project which aims to help people in Airdrie Central who are unemployed or in insecure work.
- £238,701 to EmployMe North Lanarkshire - a project which aims to help unemployed disabled people to progress towards long-term employment.
- £203,641 to Lift Off and Accelerate - a project offering alternative learning models for young people aged 15-18 years with additional support needs.
- £754,532 to All In North Lanarkshire - a project which supports people experiencing barriers to work to find and retain employment.
The Community Renewal Fund was established to support people and communities most in need across the UK through projects seeking to invest in local communities or offer skills or support to improve job opportunities.
Scottish Conservative MSP for the Central Scotland region, Graham Simpson MSP, said: “This is a huge investment into our local communities here in Lanarkshire, from Rishi Sunak and the UK Government.
“This funding will help improve skills and employability in our local communities - making a real difference to the lives of local people.
“This welcome boost from the Chancellor demonstrates the benefits and support that Lanarkshire gains from being part of a strong United Kingdom.”
