Over 3000 new Lanarkshire Covid cases in last week but hospitalisations are down

There were 3004 new Covid cases across Lanarkshire in the last week.

In total, 90,233 people across the region have now tested positive for coronavirus, up to Tuesday, September 28.

That is a rise on the 87,229 reported up to Tuesday, September 21.

In the last seven days, 17 deaths were reported across Lanarkshire due to Covid-19.

There are now 125 people in Lanarkshire hospitals, which is 12 less than what was reported this time last week.

With vaccine passports ready to be rolled out this Friday, and the latest government news that there will be a two-week grace period for businesses, people are being urged to receive their jag.

Figures show that 94.2 per cent of the over-18 population in Lanarkshire have had their first dose already, and 88.7 per cent have achieved their full vaccination status.

Those over 16 are also now able to get their vaccination at a number of drop-in centres, and the booster program is also open now to those over 55, with health conditions, or those working on the frontline.
