Over 300 cases reported in Tokyo

The Tokyo metropolitan government reported 340 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus on Wednesday.

The daily figure exceeded 300 for the first time in five days, and was up from the 316 cases logged on the same day last week.

According to the Tokyo government, 39 people were seriously ill, the same as the previous day. The seven-day moving average of daily new cases stood at 265.1, down only 4.6% from 277.9 in the previous week.
