Over 30 West Lothian schools get facelift over October holidays

The October school holiday provided the council with an opportunity to undertake refurbishment work in over 30 West Lothian schools.

Nearly £300,000 was invested in the school programme of works which included a wide variety of individual projects from new gym hall flooring to roof upgrades. Executive councillor for education David Dodds said it’s important to ensure that schools are maintained to a high standard.

He added: “Continuing to improve settings across our education facilities will provide the best possible environment for students to learn.

“It’s an ongoing process to maintain a high standard across each of our school buildings.”

The work involved dozens of individual programmes including gym hall flooring at The James Young High School, upgrades to the toilets at Dedridge Primary, roofing and guttering upgrades at St John The Baptist PS, and Air Handling Unit replacements at Linlithgow Academy.
