Over €30,000 raised in under a day for Dublin man in induced coma in Mexico

Over 30,000 has been raised for a Dublin man who is in an induced coma in Mexico.

Declan Weldon was hospitalised after a serious accident on Saturday.

The 27 year old hit his head and was airlifted to hospital by emergency services.

He is currently residing in a private hospital in the intensive care unit.

Declan is originally from Castleknock and his family and friends are currently working with the medical team in Mexico.

The online GoFundMe was set up earlier today and is already over halfway to its goal of 50,000.

The fundraiser was organised to "try and help both Declan and his family with the cost of the medical care and the cost of the rehabilitation involved."

A member of the Weldon family thanked those who donated.

They said on the GoFundMe page: "Thank you so much for all your kind messages and your generosity!

"The Weldon family will be forever grateful. Declan is still sedated in an induced coma. Please pray for him."

You can donate to the fundraiser here.
