Over 250 cannabis plants found at huge farm hidden inside home in Wigan

Police have seized 250 cannabis plants after a large farm was discovered at a house in Wigan.

The illegal operation was being hidden inside a house on Orchard Street, in Ashton-in-Makerfield, officers said.

PCs from GMP's Wigan West team found the plants this morning (Wednesday) as well as network of heaters and lights.

Images posted by the police on Facebook show a large number of pots filling a room in the home. The floor had been covered and lines of wires were running across the farm.

Police say there were over 250 cannabis plants in the home (GMP)

In a post accompanying the pictures, an officer called the find an "excellent result".

The post said: "Officers discovered a large cannabis farm on Orchard Street, Ashton In Makerfield today (Wednesday, July 29)

"Over 250 cannabis plants have been seized.

"Another excellent result for our officers."

No arrests have been made.

Earlier this week, police found a similar cannabis farm working on a much larger scale hidden in a home in Oldham.

The enormous operation contained thousands of plants with an estimated street value of as much as £1.2m. It covered multiple rooms and was rigged with an even larger array of fans, lights and heaters.

Anyone with information about cannabis dealing should contact police on 101.
