Over €25,000 raised for Pieta House after 12-year-old Dublin boy tragically dies

The sister of a Dublin boy who tragically died last year has urged people to keep donating to Pieta House despite the current pandemic after a staggering €25,000 was raised from her fundraiser just days after it was launched.

Twelve-year-old Swords boy Sam ‘Sammy’ Clarkin, who was an avid sportsman and played for his local club Fingallians GAA, died suddenly on April 22, 2019.

One year on from his untimely death, his sister Levi, has set up a GoFundMe page for the suicide-prevention charity which has already passed its target of €5,000, five times in two weeks.

She said: "I am running a competition in aid of Pieta House. It is a very special organization to me and my family.

"Last April we lost our 12-year-old baby brother, in mom and dad's case their youngest son and child, Sammy.

"It is coming up to Sammy’s one-year anniversary and also coming up to the time Pieta House normally holds their annual fundraiser ‘Darkness Into Light’.

"Hundreds of thousands of people participate in Darkness Into Light all over the world and over 80% of their income comes from fundraising events.

"This year Darkness Into Light can’t go ahead due to COVID-19. To play my part in giving back I have set up this page.

"I will have the link to this on both of my Instagram pages ‘leviclarkin’ and‘leviclarkinmua’.

"The money you would have spent on your t-shirt/place to walk/run in this year's Darkness Into Light could be the amount you donate, but as little as €5, whatever amount you are in a position to donate."

Anyone who gives to the fundraiser, which you can find here, will be in the running to win one of up to 30 fantastic prizes below also:
