More than 2,400 new Covid cases confirmed in Bristol region

Almost 2,500 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Bristol region in the last 24 hours.

A total of 2,479 new positive tests were recorded across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

On top of this, three new deaths within 28 days of a positive test were recorded in South Gloucestershire in the last 24 hours.

The City of Bristol recorded the most new cases with 1,084 confirmed since yesterday.

Meanwhile, South Gloucestershire suffered a further 649 cases while North Somerset recorded 378.

Bath and North East Somerset recorded the fewest numbers of cases with 368 cases.

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 33,724 (+368)
  • City of Bristol: 93,899 (+1,084)
  • North Somerset: 34,805 (+378)
  • South Gloucestershire: 52,518 (+649)

The number of deaths recorded in each area of Bristol since the beginning of the pandemic is as follows, with new deaths within 28 days of a positive test in brackets.

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 264 (-)
  • City of Bristol: 600 (-)
  • North Somerset: 365 (-)
  • South Gloucestershire: 406 (+3)
