Over 150 people aboard cruise ship test positive for deadly coronavirus

Around 175 people aboard a cruise ship have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus.

The Diamond Princess was completely locked down as 492 of its passengers were tested for the disease in Japan.

It has been monitored since arriving in Yokohama, south of Tokyo, on February 3.

Health officials expressed concerns after a man who disembarked in Hong Kong was diagnosed with the virus.

The confirmed number of passengers infected with the virus has reached 174, with one quarantine officer also testing positive.

About 3,700 people are aboard the ship - including 1,100 crew and 2,670 passengers.

The Health Ministry in Japan said that tests are being conducted for others who are deemed to need them and it will announce the results later.

Around 1,358 people have been tested for the disease in the UK - eight of which has tested positive.

The number of people being tested for coronavirus has over the past few days in Scotland.

Statistics published by the Scottish Government on Tuesday afternoon showed 82 people had been tested - all of which came back negative.
