Over 140 kids enjoy Christmas party thanks to Lanarkshire children's charity

Over 140 kids enjoyed seeing Santa and a whole host of other activities at the Les Hoey DreamMaker Foundation’s Christmas party.

The Wishaw-based charity, which helps children with life-limiting conditions live their dreams, had to call off last year’s big Christmas bash due to COVID.

But there was no stopping the 2021 edition as DreamMaker kids and their families packed into the Radstone Hotel near Larkhall.

DreamMaker co-ordinator Angela Cook told Lanarkshire Live : “It was absolutely amazing, after COVID it was so nice to be able to put on a major event for the kids and their families.

“It was so nice to see everyone and despite the hard work in trying to pull everything together it was definitely worth it.

“For a lot of families their children were diagnosed during the pandemic so it was good for them to meet other parents who have been on a similar journey to them and it shows there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

As well as Santa there were also appearances from the song and dance factory, Bubbles the Clown and a DJ.

Angela was also quick to thank the many volunteers who helped make the day special.

She added: “The support we have has been superb.

“The number of donations we received from people has been overwhelming.

“Whether it was donating presents or sweeties it was much appreciated.

“I also want to thank all the volunteers who helped us on the day as well.”
