Over 12,000 positive coronavirus cases in Scotland as further 12 die

The number of positive coronavirus cases in Scotland has exceeded 12,000, the Scottish Government has confirmed.

A further 12 people have sadly died of the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 1,571.

12,097 people living in Scotland have contracted the virus, up 170 from Saturday's figure of 11,927.

The Scottish Government advised, that as of 2pm today, a total of 60,295 people in Scotland have been tested. Of these:

  • 48,198 were confirmed negative
  • 12,097 were positive
  • 1,571 patients who tested positive have died

As ever, the Government clarified: "These figures will be an underestimate. Not everyone with COVID-19 will display symptoms and not all those with symptoms will be tested."

In the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region, there have been 2,985 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 526 people in hospital as of midnight last night, 39 of whom are intensive care.
