Over €100k in drugs found during two searches in Dublin Mail Centre

Over €100,000 worth of drugs have been found in the Dublin Mail Centre with the help detector dog Bailey.

The two finds were made today and yesterday, with the drugs destined for addresses in Dublin and Limerick.

Today, 13.5kg of cannabis resin worth €81k was found, while 1kg of herbal cannabis worth €20k was discovered yesterday.

A Revenue spokesman said: "Today (26/11/2019), Revenue Officers seized 13.5kgs of cannabis resin worth approximately €81,000.

"The drugs, detected with the assistance of detector dog Bailey at Dublin Mail Centre, were concealed in nine parcels which originated from Spain and were declared as ‘plastic ornaments’.

"The parcels were destined for addresses in West and North Dublin.

"In a separate operation yesterday (25/11/2019), also in the Dublin Mail Centre, Revenue detector dog Bailey assisted Revenue officers in the detection of 1kg of herbal cannabis.

"The illegal drugs, with an estimated street value of approximately €20,000, discovered in two parcels originating from the USA and the UK, and were destined for addresses in Limerick and Dublin City Centre."

They continued: "Investigations are ongoing in all three seizures.

"These routine operations are part of Revenue's ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.

"If businesses, or members of the public have any information, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
