Over 100 people turned out to support Andy’s Man Club when the group stopped off in Perth over the weekend.
To mark Suicide Prevention Week, Andy’s Man Club went on a bus tour of the UK this weekend to try and raise awareness of male suicide and spread the message ‘It’s okay to talk’.
The bus stopped in Tay Street on Sunday as a branch of the charity meets weekly in Perth.
Alex McClintock, who along with Adam Allison runs Andy’s Man Club in Perth, said: “We were well supported at every bus stop all over the UK.
“It was a good turnout in Perth - about 120 people came out to support us, and it is really positive to see Perth continuing to support Andy’s Man Club.
“There were about 20 people on the bus and at every stop we got out to raise awareness and shout about our need to reach that one man who has not heard about us yet.
“We handed out leaflets and wristbands.”
He continued: “Tuesday is World Suicide Prevention Day, but every day is an awareness day for us.
“We are highlighting the issue this week because it is mainstream and people are talking about it, but we want to raise awareness of male suicide every day.
“It was really beneficial - a couple of guys were just walking past and had not heard about us.
“We’re hoping to see them at one of our meetings now.”
Andy’s Man Club meets at McDiarmid Park in Perth every Monday evening at 7pm, and Alex and Adam are often in Costa’s at St Catherine’s Retail Park on a Monday until 6.30pm to chat to anyone who wants to talk.
