Across South Lanarkshire, more than 120 restaurants, cafes and pubs have been signing up for the UK government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
HMRC has published details of businesses across the UK that have signed up to the scheme and already 129 eateries from Rutherglen to Biggar have done so.
That’s equivalent to one restaurant for every 2484 people.
Throughout Scotland, 3766 businesses have signed up to the scheme offering money off meals on Mondays to Wednesdays in August.
That’s not including big name chains like McDonald’s, Weatherspoons and Costa Coffee that have also signed up and have multiple branches in the area (the full list of chains is available here: https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/eat-out-to-help-out/find-a-restaurant/restaurant-chains ).

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme offers 50 per cent off food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a total value of £10 per person if you eat or drink in at the registered business every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between August 3 and 31.
You can benefit from the scheme as many times as you like over the period and you don’t need a voucher to use the scheme and you can use it at the same time as other offers and discounts. There is no minimum spend.
Alcoholic drinks and service charges are excluded from the offer.
