Over 100 Fife schools and nurseries close as Storm Darcy batters Scotland

Over 100 Fife schools have been forced to close after Storm Darcy hit Scotland with blizzard conditions.

Fife Council has issued the emergency closure of a huge list of primary and secondary schools and nurseries citing "severe weather" conditions.

This includes Kirkcaldy High School, Kirkcaldy North Nursery, Kirkcaldy North Primary School, Kirkcaldy West Nursery and Kirkcaldy West Primary School.

You can find the full list on the council's website here.

While most pupils are currently being homeschooled, schools have remained open to the children of essential workers.

It comes as forecasters have warned of the "Beast from the East II" after the country was slapped with multiple weather warnings.

Storm Darcy's freezing easterly winds has led to blizzard conditions and are likely to lead to travel disruption with snow drifts and ice.

While Edinburgh has been issued with a yellow weather warning, Fife is among the areas that are under an amber weather warning for "heavy snow".
