Over 100 experts did the transplant in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: More than 100 experts and personnel from nearly half a dozen departments and institutions made the cadaveric multi-organ donation and subsequent transplants successfully on Saturday.

"The family's consent for cadaveric donation to serve humanity is an example for society," said KGMU vice-chancellor Lt Gen (retd) Dr Bipin Puri, who supervised the entire operation.

"It was team work of more than 50 doctors and paramedics of various departments who joined hands to accomplish the task," he said.

Nodal officer of State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation Dr R Harsvardhan, who also heads hospital administration of SGPGIMS, said, "After relatives of a patient have consented, our organ sharing network is activated to utilise the 'window of opportunity' for saving other lives."
