Over 10 percent of people wear same underwear for a week or more - nearly half don't change daily

Recent research has shown nearly half of people do not change underwear daily  - and a shockingly high percentage of people can wear the same pair for a week or more.

According to findings from underwear maker Tommy John, 45 percent of people in the US do not put clean pants or knickers on daily, with a shocking 13 percent confessing to wearing the same pair for an entire week.

Yikes.

The findings show males two-and-a-half times more likely than women to wear the same pants for seven days or longer, report The Mirror.

The research also claims people felt sense of loyalty to their undergarments , with 46 percent of those questioned saying they had owned the same underwear for over a year.

38 percent also said they'd had their favourite underwear in their drawer for such a while they couldn't say exactly how long ago they bought them.

But Tommy John suggests keeping your underwear for this amount of time as ir collects bacteria that can lead to nasty infections in the long run. They advise you to discard old underwear and buy new pants every six months to a year.

Marks and Spencer's bra fit expert and technical manager Julia Mercer recently spoke to MirrorOnline about when you need to get a new one, and it similar to pants and knickers.

She said: "In my opinion, a bra is at its best in its first year of being worn".

So keep in mind, your relationship with your briefs need to be kept...well, brief.
