Over 10,000 food packs donated in 24 hours to homeless and vulnerable hit hard by coronavirus crisis

More than 10,000 food packs have been donated by kind-hearted members of the public to feed those hard-hit by the COVID-19 crisis in 24 hours.

Yesterday itison launched its fundraiser for Social Bite to help the most vulnerable people across the country, including the homeless, families relying on school meals and the elderly.

itison’s £5 fundraiser helps Social Bite get food packs to as many people as possible hard-hit by lockdown.

Oli Norman, CEO at itison said: “Every time we launch a Social Bite campaign we’re blown away by the generosity of our members and this time is no exception, 10,000 donations in under 24 hours is just incredible - a massive thank you to everyone who’s donated.

“It’s never been more important that we look out for each other, so we’d encourage everyone to keep the momentum going - please dig deep, donate what you can and share with your friends and family –  you’ll be putting food on people’s tables at a time when they truly need our help!”

For every £5 donation, Social Bite will provide a fresh food pack of a sandwich, snack and drink to someone in need. The charity is working with over 75 charities and community groups across Scotland to reach those in need. Social Bite cafes are also open to those experiencing homelessness.

Josh Littlejohn, co-founder of Social Bite, added: “Our itison campaign is off to another flying start, thank you so much to everyone who’s donated so far. Your donations make a massive difference to the work we do. If you haven’t already, please donate, share it with all your friends and help the people who need it the very most across Scotland.”
