Over 1.6 crore get Ayushman cards in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW: Over 1.6 crore people from around 58 lakh families have got Ayushman cards in Uttar pradesh and now cards are being made by running special campaigns in villages.

“It is our best effort that the Ayushman card reaches 100% beneficiaries as soon as possible so that they can get a free treatment facility in case of any disease. In three years, more than 8.46 lakh people have availed free treatment facilities under the scheme and around Rs 886 crores have been paid for their treatment,” said Sangeeta Singh, chief executive officer, State Agency for Comprehensive Health Insurance and Integrated Services (SACHIS) while speaking at a workshop held here on Thursday.

Officials, who attended the programme organised by Centre for Advocacy and Research, said that free treatment of 1,450 diseases are available under the scheme at 2,775 attached hospitals (government and private) of the state.

The programme concluded with folk artists of Aakar Foundation presenting a street play.
