Sunday's final between England and Italy has become the most watched show of 2021 with over 1.1 MILLION people tuning in.
The clash, which saw Italy crowned as champions, had an average viewership of 938,000 viewers on RTE Two throughout the game and peaked at 1.1 million.
Additionally there were some 280,000 streams on the RTE Player as it broke their record for most concurrent device streams and there were some 2.6 million streams throughout the tournament.
And the European Championships were a huge success for the channel with an average of 308,000 viewers per game throughout the last month.
England featured heavily in the most viewed games of the tournament with the final against Italy the most watched game followed by their semi-final win against Denmark averaging 889,000 viewers.
Italy's semi-final win against Spain was the third most viewed game of the tournament with an average of 586,000 viewers with England's clash against Scotland fourth with 546,000 viewers.
RTE's Head of Sport Declan McBennett said of the viewing figures: “Summer tournaments are always special in their ability to unite the generations into a mass audience sharing a collective experience and EURO 2020 was no different.
