'I feel for Leeds United' - pundits make Whites and Aston Villa play-offs prediction

Former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood is predicting Aston Villa to win the Championship play-offs ahead of Leeds United.

The Whites missed out on automatic promotion to Norwich City and Sheffield United with three more games now required to reach the Premier League.

Leeds and Villa are now 2/1 joint-favourites to emerge victorious at Wembley on May 25 and Sherwood is backing his former club for success.

"I'll go Villa for the play-offs. My old club and I'd love to see them back in the Premier League," Sherwood told Sky Sports's The Debate.

"There are some big clubs there fighting it out and can tell you the rivalry between Villa and West Brom[wich Albion] is huge.

"Those two games are going to huge football matches."

Fellow Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior agrees and also thinks Villa are in prime position to return to the Premier League.

He said: "The team with the most momentum normally push and I can't look past Aston Villa.

"Jack Grealish has come back from injury and they had won 10 in a row up to the Leeds game. They have been absolutely outstanding.

"Since Dean Smith arrived they have been absolutely superb and he has galvanized the club. They are on a steam train at the moment and I can't look past them.

"I feel for Leeds and I've been there with Brighton. When you miss out on that top two, it's difficult from a physiological point of view.

"They have such a young squad at Leeds but they still have a chance."
