Outstanding Halloween gag recreates infamous Maria Bailey 'swing fall'

A Halloween reveller has put together an outstanding costume taking the mick out of one of the biggest political controversies of the year.

Last night Maria Bailey's Fine Gael constituency members paved the way for her to be officially removed from the election ticket - and while all the drama unfolded in South Dublin, a North Dublin man had the city in stitches with his brilliant costume.

A hilarious video shows Niall in a blonde wig and blue dress while sipping from a bottle of beer relaxing on his homemade swing.

The Artane man then "slips" onto the floor paving the way for a legal claim against his nervous host.

The brilliant footage has gone viral online after his friend Ayrton posted it on Twitter.

Niall told Dublin Live he only decided to dress up as Maria on Thursday morning - and after a trip to a charity shop and almost five hours of crafting the masterpiece was ready to go.

The video has been retweeted almost a thousand times while people left comments admiring the brilliant timing as it coincided with the members meeting.

One said: "I'm in a state of heightened amusement, and on the night she got spanked by her own people, so fitting".

Another called it "Absolutely fantastic".
