Outspoken Angelino takes aim at Liverpool after "average" Man Utd and Pep Guardiola rants

RB Leipzig star Angelino believes his team can exploit Liverpool's weaknesses after singling out Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Reds won 2-0 in the first-leg of their Champions League tie which leaves the Germans with a mountain to climb.

But upon reflection Angelino believes the Bundesliga outfit played well against Liverpool.

He put their failure down to their inability to capitalise on their opponent's weaknesses and believes the forward-thinking Alexander-Arnold can be exposed.

"It was tough because I thought we played a really good match," Angelino said.

"We were a few times behind their full-backs. [Trent] Alexander-Arnold on the ball is unbelievable but he is too offensive.

"But that is his best [quality] so we have to exploit the weakness and hopefully we can get a few more chances like we did in the first game. That was our mistake that we did not put them away.

The wing-back, who is a crucial attacking weapon for Leipzig, has not been shy in speaking his mind recently.

He scored against Manchester United in the group stages to dump the Red Devils out of the competition.

And before the tournament had even begun he had called Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's inconsistent side "average".

“I don’t know that much about Basaksehir. We know Paris from the semi-finals in the tournament in Lisbon," he said when quizzed on their group at the start of the season.

“What I’ve seen from Manchester United so far: sometimes they’re world class, sometimes they’re average. We don’t have to hide.”

Angelino moved to Germany from Manchester City, where he was signed by Pep Guardiola.

Opportunities were few and far between under the Catalan and the 24-year-old admits he had his confidence crushed.

The Spaniard didn't hold back when assessing his time at the Etihad insisting he was "judged" quickly by Guardiola.

"I had a rest when I was with Pep for six months, that was enough," he said.

"It killed me. The confidence was everything, when you don't have the trust of a coach it is everything.

"I was judged for pre-season, two games, and then I didn't get my chance until a few months. It is hard to play one game every two months so I am just happy that happened so I could come here and meet Julian and everyone here."
